Subscription

  • 1. What is a subscription license?

Customers can purchase subscription licenses for various time periods, and are entitled to use the software during the agreed upon time period. The subscription payment includes software licenses, access to support services, and new versions of the software as they are released. When the subscription expires, the customer does not have access to use or distribute commercial software developed with Qt.

  • 10. What happens if I make a late payment?  Can I renew my Product Maintenance or my Subscription if it has expired?

If your subscription expires, your access to Qt will be suspended after the subscription date. To re-subscribe at a later date, please contact your Renewal Representative. You can contact us through our Contact Us page.

  • 2. What is the difference between maintenance and subscription?

Subscription licenses give you access to Qt over a set period of time and are available for your Qt products. Maintenance is included in the price of a subscription license, keeping you up-to-date and giving you access to Qt’s ongoing product releases and support services at no additional cost.

For perpetual licenses, maintenance is what gives you continued access to technical support, Qt feature and patch releases in Qt 5.

  • 3. How do I renew my maintenance or subscription?

You will be notified 60 days before the renewal expiration date by your dedicated Renewal Representative.  You can renew your license(s) via credit card, a purchase order or auto-renew depending on your contract terms and conditions.

Orders are to be placed by e-mail to your Renewal Representative with a copy (cc'd) to invoice@qt.io. We will then renew your license(s) and send the invoice to you.

All fees and other charges payable hereunder are gross amounts but exclusive of any value-added tax, use tax, sales tax and other taxes, duties or tariffs (“Taxes”). Such applicable taxes shall be paid by licensee, or, where applicable, in lieu of payment of such taxes, licensees shall provide an exemption certificate to The Qt Company.

  • 4. If I don't convert to subscription, can I still use my perpetual license?

Yes. If your Qt licenses are perpetual, you may continue to use the product in perpetuity after your maintenance expires.  Access to product and technical support will only be available via the purchase of an Extended Maintenance Contract for software releases that are end-of-life. If you opt not to renew, please note that Qt will not guarantee to support software versions acquired with a perpetual license.

Please note, you will need a subscription license to access Qt 6.

Qt versions can be viewed here.

  • 5. When does my subscription expire?

Subscription licenses expire on the contract anniversary date if you have not opted-in to auto-renewal. You will receive a notification from your renewal representative at least 60 days in advance of expiration.

  • 6. What is auto-renewal?

Auto-renewal ensures continued access to your Qt products, technical support, and maintenance without interruption.. Qt will invoice you 30 days prior to your renewal date for the products and quantity included in the original transaction.

If your company requires you to issue a PO and reference this on your invoice to assure prompt payment, please contact your renewal specialist as soon as possible to ensure no interruptions to your license.

Please note if you wish to cancel or opt out of auto renew you must do so 30 days in advance of the license expiration date

  • 8. How do I pay via credit card?

You can pay by credit card with the link provided in the renewal notification sent from your Renewal Representative.

  • 9. What happens if my credit card is declined?

We will charge your credit card 30 days before your renewal date. If your card is declined, we will send you an email notification with a link to your invoice page to make your renewal payment. If you do not make a payment before the renewal date, your licenses will expire.
