DCC Labs’ middleware products empower TV operators to keep up with the latest innovations and user interfaces, launch new services and accelerate new subscriber growth. It provides end-to-end integration and firmware migration services for internet television (IPTV), digital video broadcasting (DVB) and over-the-top (OTT) set-top boxes. Such is the growth and demand for set-top boxes with intuitive user interfaces that the company has grown fast enough to be listed in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 – being awarded the 6th place in the Central European ‘Rising Stars’ category.
DCC Labs was looking to develop its latest Hybrid Middleware Client with a cross-platform requirement, powerful graphics and most notably a hybrid solution that included native and HTML5 UI capabilities.
The Hybrid Middleware Client is an advanced, portable and lightweight runtime framework for DVB, IPTV and OTT STBs. It combines thin client (HTML5 UX) and native/thick client (Qt, QML) user interface technologies to enable the deployment of both HTML5- and QML-based applications in hybrid and OTT systems. It is designed for all IPTV, Cable, Satellite and Terrestrial devices, regardless of the type or vendor. The team also used Qt Core, Qt Quick, Qt Concurrent, Qt Webkit, Qt Webengine and Qt Locale to develop the client.
